Our group is developing advanced separation and extraction technologies to enhance the efficient and cost-effective recovery of critical minerals from mine tailings. Current efforts include rare earth element extraction from coal and clay resources, as well as nickel extraction from silicate and sulfide minerals.
Our group aims to advance knowledge in colloid and surface chemistry and interfacial science. Our research focuses on topics such as wetting and dewetting, surface forces, thin liquid film stability, and contact angles. We seek to provide fundamental insights that can inform and support industrial applications, including froth flotation and hydrometallurgy.
Our group is also interested in recycling to promote material sustainability and reduce environmental impact. Current efforts include recovering valuable materials from lithium-ion batteries, recycling photovoltaic panels, and advancing fiber recycling to improve the sustainability of the paper industry.
