The timeline hosted on this website is the product of a collaborative, inquiry-based project undertaken in a First Year Experience class. In individual and group assignments the students explored aspects of the history of Virginia Tech after WWI. Using the open-source application Timeline JS, the students began contributing to a class-constructed timeline in Fall 2019. The publications here are based on the students research into particular themes of twentieth-century VPI, including the expansion of the school's constituency, infrastructure, curriculum as it has grown from a small, regional land-grant college to a comprehensive research institution committed to the principles of the land grant mission.
