PI Dhillon is a co-chair of the Workshop on Timely and Private Machine Learning over Networks, IEEE ICASSP, Seoul, South Korea, April 2024.
Dr. Dhillon served on a panel on "Emerging Trends in the Era of 6G and AI" at IEEE PIMRC 2023.
Dr. Saad gave a virtual talk in the CREATE-TRAVERSAL seminar series organized by the University of Ottawa that integrated some of this research.
Drs. Dhillon and Saad co-edited a Cambridge University Book titled Age of Information: Foundations and Applications that will serve as a useful resource for researchers working in this area. Almost all top researchers working on AoI have contributed chapters to this book based on their research expertise.
Dr. Saad participated in the Student Transition Engineering Program (STEP) at VT in 2022, which provides incoming engineering students with an opportunity to become familiar with the Virginia Tech community prior to the start of their academic careers.
Dr. Dhillon delivered a keynote at DroneCom (in ACM MobiCom 2021) that included some results from this project.
Dr. Saad delivered a tutorial at IEEE ICC 2022 that integrated some of the outcomes of this research.
Dr. Ha delivered a tutorial titled "Vibration/Motion-powered IoT: Electromechanical Dynamics and Low-power Circuit-and-system Designs" at IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (ISCAS), Daegu, Korea, May 23, 2021.
Dr. Dhillon served as an Editor for the first book on 6G Mobile Wireless Networks that was published by Springer in 2021. Several chapters of this book focused on topics of interest for this project, such as IoT/MTC, edge intelligence, and federated learning. In fact, the chapters on edge intelligence and federated learning were co-authored by Dr. Saad.
Dr. Saad delivered a tutorial at IEEE ICC 2021 that discussed the role of edge computing in wireless systems.
Dr. Saad participated in a panel on 6G systems at the 2021 6G Summit that discussed some of the ideas of this proposal.
Dr. Dhillon is serving as a guest editor for a JSAC special issue on Beyond Transmitting Bits: Context, Semantics and Task-Oriented Communications.
Dr. Dhillon delivered a keynote in Samsung Research India's annual India Research Network 2020 event, which included some results from this project.
Dr. Dhillon delivered an invited talk titled "Role of Age of Information in the Internet of Things" in the IEEE 5G World Forum (Virtual), Sept. 2020.
Dr. Ha delivered an invited talk on "Energy Harvesting for Wireless IoT Devices" at ASME Smart Material Adaptive Structures and Intelligent Systems (SMASIS) 2020 Conference (Virtual) in Sept. 2020.
Dr. Saad participated in an outreach event within the virtual 2020 CEED Imagination Summer Camp for the rising 7th or 8th graders from New River Valley Schools and discussed issues related to the IoT.
Dr. Saad delivered a tutorial on 6G at IEEE GLOBECOM 2019 that provided key aspects of IoT, energy harvesting, and edge intelligence.
Dr. Dhillon presented a seminar on "Stochastic Geometry for Smart Cities" in Building Blocks for Smarter Cities Workshop at Virginia Tech Research Center in Arlington, VA, July 2019.
Dr. Saad participated in the CTech^2 camp for girls in summer 2019 and provided basic IoT experiments.
