AWT4CL Update for April 2025
Passionate Collaboration: As highlighted in an AgriThority blog post, “passionate collaboration in agriculture holds the key to addressing the complex challenges facing the industry.” Perhaps that is why some have proposed to add “Collaborate” to Bloom’s taxonomy of educational objectives. What will you do this month to help foster passionate collaboration?
Leverage Local: “Whether through formal cooperatives, informal partnerships, or shared initiatives, collaboration is a powerful strategy for achieving success.” GrowSmart Farming offers this point in a blog post on “Collaboration with Other Local Farmers: A Pathway to Agricultural Success.” Among the tips for building effective collaborations, the post encourages leveraging local organizations.
Toughest Interview Question: “What do you want to learn?” That was the question Brian Formato struggled to answer until he realized the value of a learning organization. He reflects on the experience in a recent “Leading With Questions” blog post. How might we better prepare job candidates for work in a learning organization?
New NIFA Director: The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) recently announced the appointment of Dr. Jaye L. Hamby as the Director of the National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA). As Director, Dr. Hamby leads USDA’s efforts to “advance agricultural innovation, community outreach, and fostering the next generation of agricultural leaders,” including this AWT4CL grant!
This work is supported by Agriculture and Food Research Initiative (AFRI) 2020-67037-31032 1022287 from the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture. Inquiries about the project should be directed to Dr. Eric K. Kaufman, the primary investigator. Additional information about the grant is available online at the USDA-NIFA project portal.
