AWT4CL Update for February 2025
Critical Skills: What are you looking for in a coworker? Those may be the same qualities an employer is looking for in you. For more insight, including common interview questions focused on these skills, check out Elizabeth Galbreath’s blog post on “Critical Skills for Any Teammate or New Hire.”
Advantages of Durable Skills: Research continues to highlight the importance of durable skills, including several key advantages: (1) They are long lasting, (2) Many are highly transferable, and (3) They can’t be automated. You can find more information on these in-demand skills on InsightGlobal’s blog post, “Durable Skills: Why More Companies are Hiring for Soft Skills.”
Learning Badges: Our work with AWT4CL employability skill badges is continuing to progress, and we encourage more pilot testing of the materials and resources. One great place to start is to experience the process of earning a digital badge by completing the Welcome Module.
Ag Teacher Support: As part of efforts to expand the reach and application of AWT4CL efforts, we facilitated two workshops last month for the Virginia Association for Agricultural Education (VAAE) winter in-service. We connected the plan-do-study-act (PDSA) model for improvement (see related slides) and introduced teachers to the AWT4CL learning badge system with a session titled “Bridging the Skills Gap: Digital Badges for Employability in Agriculture.”
