GREENWOOD, S.C. — Virginia Tech (8-8-0, 4-4-0) will look to remain perfect this spring against Auburn (9-5-3, 3-3-2). Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m at a neutral site.

The Hokies last match came on April 1 in a 5-3 win on the road against Liberty. Tech’s five goals were the most since the Hokies put up eight against Miami on Oct. 15.

Liberty was outshot 28-6 in a game that Tech dominated for 70 minutes. Midfielder Emily Gray and forward Tori Powell both scored twice to earn their seventh goals of the season, respectively.

After building a 5-0 lead before the 70th minute mark, the Hokies took their foot off the gas. The Flames scored two goals in a span of fewer than two minutes, but were unable to mount a comeback.

Auburn will try to extend its own win streak to five games. The Tigers are coming off 3-0 win on senior day against South Alabama.

It was a pair of freshmen that started the scoring for the Tigers. Forward Olivia Candelino earned her third goal of the year while midfielder Anna Haddock scored her second. Haddock is currently tied for fourth in the country in assists this season.

These two teams started a neutral series last year with Virginia Tech notching a 3-1 win in Athens, Ga.

Both teams will be vying for an at-large NCAA Tournament bid.

The Hokies are looking to make their third consecutive tournament appearance, while Auburn looks to get back into the big dance for the first time since 2018.
