Virginia Tech (7-8-0, 4-4-0) returns to action on the road Thursday against Liberty (3-4-5, 2-3-3) at 6 p.m. for its first match in 12 days. The Hokies are coming off a dominant 3-0 victory over William & Mary on senior night.

Tech is looking to extend its spring winning streak to three games.

Midfielder Emily Gray led the Hokies with two goals to hand the Tribe (0-2-2, 0-1-1) their first loss of the season. Gray has now tallied three goals for the spring season and six total for the 2020-2021 season.

Goalkeeper Alia Skinner posted six saves on 15 shots to earn the shutout. The win against William & Mary marked the third shutout of her freshman campaign.

Virginia Tech currently sits at eighth in the ACC standings with 12 points. The Hokies are in a three-way tie with Louisville and Notre Dame.

The Flames come in following a 2-2 draw on the road against Bellarmine.

Liberty was led by first time goal scorers, defender Lissi Gordan and defender Shevaun Judon. Judon earned her first collegiate goal in the 89th minute to tie the game. This was the Flames’ fifth overtime match this season and the first time Liberty had scored more than one goal this season.

Virginia Tech won the last matchup between these two teams 3-0 back in 2019. The Hokies lead the all-time series 9-1 with Liberty’s only win coming in 2001.
