BLACKSBURG, Va. 一 No. 25 Virginia Tech (9-6, 5-4) takes a trip down south for a three-game series against the Clemson Tigers (6-8, 1-5).

The Hokies are looking to right the ship after dropping four of their last five games. In those five games, Tech has had its fair share of struggles defensively, giving up over seven runs per game.

In the Hokies’ last win over Florida State, freshman Jack Hurley improved on his impressive season with a solo home run to give Tech a 3-0 lead. Chris Gerard pitched seven innings of two-hit baseball, resulting in a 5-0 shutout in favor of the Hokies.

Since that game, the Hokies have struggled finding much consistency from their starting pitching and bullpen. In the following game against the Seminoles, Tech made a record 11 calls to the bullpen in the 14-7 loss.

Similar to the Hokies, the Tigers have a hard time finding the win column as of late. Clemson broke a six-game skid on Tuesday with a 7-2 victory over Georgia State. The Tigers were impressive all-around on the mound, giving up only four hits.

Offensively, Jonathan French and Bryce Teodosio both sent Panther pitches out of Doug Kingsmore Stadium, powering the Tigers to victory.

Both teams have struggled to find their footing recently, but one will take a step in the right direction when the Hokies and the Tigers meet at 6 p.m. Friday evening.
