Virginia Tech will play its first of two games on Friday at 5 p.m. when the Hokies take on No. 18 ranked Pittsburgh in South Carolina.

The Hokies are on a two game losing streak and sit at 6-9 overall and 5-9 in conference play. Virginia Tech has managed to keep every game it has played this season competitive.

The Panthers are on a tear right now and have won 11 straight games and are 15-4 overall and 13-4 in conference play. Seven out of Pittsburgh’s last 11 wins have been sweeps.

The key for Virginia Tech in Friday’s match is defense; the Hokies have been outscored by their opponents in three of their last four. Tech has been able to get blocks in crucial situations this season. The Hokies also need to limit the errors, especially service errors. Virginia Tech has a whopping 131 service errors this season.

It will be difficult for the Hokies to break the Panther’s impressive streak but it is a task that they should be able to handle.
