RALEIGH, N.C. — Virginia Tech looks to get back in the win column against No. 16 NC State after Friday’s loss to No. 13 Wake Forest on the road.

Sunday’s road match against the Wolfpack will be Tech’s fourth match against a ranked opponent this season. A VT win on Sunday will be the first ranked win this season.

The Wolfpack are 4-2 all time against the Hokies. Last time these two teams met was in Blacksburg where NC State defeated Tech 4-2 on March 7, 2020, just before the pandemic. VT has lost the last 4 matches to N.C. State and is looking for its first win against the team since March of 2017.

N.C. State is 4-4 overall, 2-1 in the ACC this season. The Wolfpack have two ranked players in their singles lineup: No. 7 Alexis Galarneau and No. 95 Tadas Babelis. In their doubles lineup, Yannai Barkai and Babelis are ranked No. 9, while the duo of Galarneau and Robert Turzak are ranked No. 23.

Virginia Tech is 5-3 overall, 1-1 in the ACC this season. No. 38 Mitch Harper for the Hokies is the only player ranked for this squad, though he did not play on Friday.

Tech takes on State Sunday at 1 p.m. in Raleigh, N.C. at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Court.
