BLACKSBURG, Va. — Playing its first game at home in roughly 23 months, No. 16 Virginia Tech swept its midweek doubleheader against Radford.

The Hokies (12-3, 7-3 ACC) came into the doubleheader looking to continue their recent hot streak on offense. The team did so successfully by defeating the Highlanders (6-12) in both games by scores of 11-1 and 9-1.

Hokies infielder Kelsey Bennett had another strong hitting performance as she hit a home run in both games and drove in five RBIs. Bennett has now hit a home run in four straight games and currently leads the team with seven on the season.

Fellow Hokies infielder Jayme Bailey also had a strong performance at the plate as she gathered three hits, including a two-run triple to open the scoring in the first game and a two-run homerun in the second game.

Bailey also made an impressive defensive play at first base when she caught a liner from Radford utility player Paityn Moore and tagged the runner at first for an unassisted double play.

In addition to strong offense, the Hokies also had strong pitching performances that held the Highlanders to just eight hits and two runs over both games. Ivy Rosenberry started the first game and struck out four batters while giving up one run on five hits in five innings of work.

Mackenzie Osborne, a freshman pitcher making her first start for Virginia Tech, also posted a strong performance as she struck out four batters and gave up only one run on three hits in innings of work.

Hokies catcher Kayleigh Addington was another freshman who hit a milestone today. She hit her first career home run when she pinch hit for Alexa Milius in the fourth inning of the first game.

The Hokies will look to continue their hot streak as they welcome Pittsburgh to Blacksburg on Friday for a four-game weekend series. First pitch of the Friday game is scheduled for 6 p.m.
