CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. After a positive start to the season, Virginia Tech has fallen in two consecutive ACC matchups at home and will look to break its losing streak against rival Virginia at Klöckner Stadium on Friday.

Virginia Tech had a solid showing against No. 1 Clemson last week but suffered heartbreak in double overtime as the Tigers earned a 1-0 win. The goal came in the 107th minute as senior defender Justin Malou tapped in the loose ball after sophomore goalkeeper Matt Zambetti saved a header off of a cross.

The last time these teams went head-to-head in Charlottesville, the Hokies came out on top with a 1-0 win after a deflected shot from midfielder Daniel Pereira.

UVa started its regular season with two victories against George Mason and Notre Dame, but recently lost to UNC 2-0.

UVa will look to bounce back and win its third home game of the spring season and avenge the loss it conceded to Virginia Tech in the fall. The Cavaliers are currently holding an even 5-5-1 record over the fall and spring seasons.

Virginia Tech will look to break its two-game losing streak, which sees them fall to an even 4-4-2 record between the fall and spring seasons.

The matchup all-time between these two rivals has not been fruitful for Virginia Tech, as they have a 3-32-6 record against UVa, though two of those wins have come in Charlottesville. The game will kick off at 2 p.m. this Friday, March 19.
