CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Virginia Tech (3-9, 0-6) came up scoreless over in-state rival No. 14 University of Virginia (9-2, 5-1) on Saturday, losing 7-0 in Charlottesville.

The Hokies were the underdogs but still put up a fight against the Cavaliers. In doubles on court three, Tech’s Katie Andreini and Erika Cheng played a close match against UVa. Unfortunately for the Hokies, the match was stopped after two UVa wins on courts one and two to clinch the doubles point for the Cavaliers.

UVa hosted five ranked players for their singles duels, which resulted in straight set victories on courts one, two, three, four and six. The Hokies were unable to handle the highly skilled Cavalier team, but did not give up.

On court five, Andreini lost a tight match against UVA's Hibah Shaikh in a tie breaker.

A rough match for Tech, this is one the Hokies can use as a motivator and catalyst against Radford on March 15.
