Virginia Tech (5-15, 0-12 ACC) fell to No. 30 Wake Forest (9-9, 5-6 ACC), 6-1, for its fourth consecutive loss on the road in Winston Salem, N.C.

Wake Forest hosted two ranked doubles duos and swept the Hokies in the round to claim the early 1-0 lead. Erika Cheng and Tamara Barad Itzhaki fell 6-1 on Court 3, and then Wake Forest capitalized on Nina Sorkin’s and Katie Andreini’s woes on Court 2 with a 6-2 win to take the point.

The remaining match on Court 1 gave no life to the Hokies, as the duo of Shene Disbergen and Nika Kozar dropped 6-2 to Eliza Omirou and Carolyn Campana.

The Demon Deacons extended their lead, winning the first two matches in singles play when Peyton Pesavento beat Sabina Richtrova in two sets.

The Hokies finally found their way onto the scoreboard when Nika Kozar took down Anna Brylin 6-3 and 6-4 on Court 2. Kozer’s win gave the Hokies some life as they trailed 3-1 to Wake Forest as three matchups remained in play.

As Tech dropped the next match and the overall score when Katie Andreini lost to Brooke Killingsworth on Court 4, Tamara Barad Itzhaki was busy putting up a fight on Court 1 against No. 15 Campana.

Itzhaki fell 6-2 in the first set, but rallied back 6-3 in the second to force a winner-take-all third set. However, Campana overpowered Itzhaki as she fell 7-5 as Wake Forest took a 5-1 lead over Tech.

Even with the match in hand for the Demon Deacons, Elizabet Danailova put up a fight in the final remaining matchup against Casie Wooten.

Danailova won the first set 6-2, but proceeded to fall 7-6 in the second which led to Wooten grabbing the final point of the match for Wake Forest, 7-5.

Tech has one match remaining on the season against Liberty on April 14 in Lynchburg, Va.
