hokies still seeking first acc win as losing streak stretches to five

BLACKSBURG, Va. — Virginia Tech fell to No. 49 Notre Dame at home Saturday afternoon as its losing streak continues. The Hokies are still seeking their first conference win in the ACC this season, joining Clemson as the only other ACC squad without a conference win.


The Fighting Irish secured their first conference win of the season. They were previously 0-2 with two losses to Boston College and Syracuse at home.


Senior Nina Sorkin and junior Annie Clark won their doubles match 6-3 for the Hokies, Tech’s only doubles win on the day. Sorkin was the only player for Tech who went 2-0 on the day, winning her doubles and singles matches.


Notre Dame wrapped up the match after No. 109 Cameron Corse defeated Tamara Barad Itzhaki 5-7, 5-7.


VT will take on Marshall on the road in Huntington, W.Va. on Wednesday.
