WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Virginia Tech (5-3,1-1 ACC) fell to No. 13 Wake Forest (10-2, 3-0 ACC) 5-2 on Feb. 26 to end its four-match win streak.

The doubles matchups were head-to-head, with Tech’s Alex Riberio and Ryan Kros tied at five in their match on court one and Jordan Chrysostom and Ryan Fishback toting the same narrative in a 5-5 gridlock on court two. Chrycoctom and Fishback fought back and came out on top, 7-5.

That was the only doubles win for the Hokies as Riberio and Kros fell 7-6 Hugo Maia and Matthis Ross were unable to secure the doubles points for Tech, falling 6-2 to Wake Forest.

Tech looked to bounce back from their unsuccessful doubles matches, but found little luck on the courts. Riberio brought in the first singles win for the Hokies, winning 6-3, 6-4 on court one, and Maia locked another victory after two close sets of 6-4 and 7-5.

The Demon Deacons dominated Tech in the other matches, though.

Wake Forest’s Taha Baadikept Carlo Donato at bay on court three, with Donato only coming close in the first set. The second set ended in a 6-1 obliteration by Baadi for awin for the Demon Deacons.

Fishback struggled against Wake’s Efstathiou and lost 6-2 in straight sets. Tech freshman Alvaro Saez-Royuela Ariza held his own against Rrezart Cungu, but was unable to seal the deal, falling 6-4, 6-4.

Ross again saw three sets of play in his match against Wake Forest’s Eduardo Nava. It was back and forth, with Ross bouncing back from a 7-5 loss in set one to win 6-4 in the second. Nava denied Ross yet another win, however, coming out on top in the third set, 10-2.

The Hokies look to reignite their win streak against North Carolina State on Feb. 28 in Raleigh, N.C.
