Virginia Tech was taken down by Georgia Tech on Thursday to end its season.

The Hokies opened play for the ACC Championship on Wednesday with a matchup against Clemson. Tech gave up the doubles point to the Tigers after falling in all three matches, but began a comeback in singles.

Tech dropped its first singles match, but dominated the remainder of the courts to clinch the win. Nina Sorkin won her match 2-1 on Court 3 over Sophia Hatton to begin the Hokies comeback. No. 119 Nika Kozar followed this with a 2-1 victory against Cristina Mayorova to tie the match at two.

The Hokies continued to battle and Katie Andreini put them up after another difficult three-set win. Andreini grabbed the point over Lana Sipek after winning the match, 2-1.

Despite this invigorating victory, Clemson still had a chance to take the lead back. The Tigers had denied the Hokies any straight-set wins for the match and it was still anybody's match.

Clemson was denied the chance after Elizabet Danaliova took the final match 2-1, and the Hokied advanced to the second round of the ACC Tournament.

The No. 14-seeded Hokies were buzzing from their first-round upset heading into their meeting with Georgia Tech on Thursday.

The Yellow Jackets came bumbling in strong in the opening of second round play, clinching the doubles point with their No. 2 and No. 21-ranked doubles teams.

The Hokies were unable to out-play No. 6-seeded Georgia Tech and came up short on courts three, four and five to end their time at the tournament.

Tech ended the season with a record of 7-17 overall and 0-13 in the ACC.
