Hokies Downed by No. 16 NC State on the Road

RALEIGH, N.C. — Virginia Tech (5-4, 1-2 ACC) fell against No. 16 NC State (5-4, 4-1) for a second straight road loss, 5-2.


Doubles started off with an unfinished match on court one,followed by the Hokies dropping matches on court two and three. Ryan Kros and Matthis Ross fell 6-1 while Hugo Maia and Ryan Fishback dropped 6-3, handing the doubles point to the Wolfpack.


Virginia Tech continued its downward spiral into the singles matches as Alex Ribeiro came up short against No. 7 Alexis Galarneau, 6-2, 6-2 on court one. Tech was only able to claim two points, with both wins coming from freshmen. Alvaro Ariza took down Robert Turzak of the Wolfpack, 6-3, 6-2, and Ryan Fishback snatched a close match win, 7-6, 6-4, over Martin Rocens.


Tech will return home on March 9 to take on Florida State and look to snap its three-game losing streak.
