WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Virginia Tech enters its match against No. 13 Wake Forest on a four-match winning streak. The Demon Deacons are the third ranked team the Hokies will face this season.

VT won Wednesday's match in Blacksburg 5-2 against JMU and handed the Dukes their first loss of the season. Tech hopes their dominance on Wednesday carries into the match on Friday against the Demon Deacons.

Wake Forest is 9-2 overall, 2-0 in the ACC and has four players ranked nationally in singles: No. 31 Bar Botzer, No. 92 Rrezart Cungu, No. 107 Taha Baddi and No. 121 Luciano Tacchi. The Demon Deacons also have Henri Squire and Eduardo Nava, the No. 18 doubles pair in the country.

Virginia Tech is 5-2 overall, 2-0 in the ACC this season. Freshman Hugo Maia, who was named the National Player of the Week on Feb. 10, is 6-0 in singles matches this season. No. 38 Mitch Harper is also undefeated this season in singles at 2-0, though he did not play in earlier games due to injury.

Wake Forest is 8-0 this season at home, while Virginia Tech is 1-2 on the road this season with another road test in Raleigh, N.C. against NC State on Sunday.

Virginia Tech will face No. 13 Wake Forest Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. in Winston Salem at the Wake Forest Tennis Center.
