Harvie P. Portugaliza
Dr. Harvie P. Portugaliza is a Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Visayas State University. He is a recipient of the Kei-ichiro Maeda Memorial T&C Award 2026 and has received prestigious international scholarships from the Belgian Directorate General for Development Cooperation and the Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctorate Programme. He completed postgraduate research training at the Institute of Tropical Medicine Antwerp and ISGlobal Barcelona, applying molecular parasitology and epidemiology approaches in malaria research. His current work focuses on African swine fever (ASF) and animal diseases of economic and public health importance. Dr. Portugaliza is a regular member of the National Research Council of the Philippines and a diplomate of the Philippine College of Veterinary Epidemiologists. With over a decade of experience in veterinary education, research, and extension, he actively leads capacity-building and applied research initiatives involving students, local governments, and livestock stakeholders.
