Harvie P. Portugaliza

Dr. Harvie P. Portugaliza is a Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Visayas State University. He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2011 from Visayas State University, Master of Science in Tropical Animal Health major in Animal Disease Control in 2014 from the Institute of Tropical Medicine Antwerp, and International Doctorate in Transdisciplinary Global Health Solutions in 2020 from the University of Barcelona. Dr. Portugaliza is the recipient of the Kei-ichiro Maeda Memorial T&C Award 2026 and has received prestigious international scholarships - the Belgian Directorate General for Development Cooperation and the Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctorate Programme. He is a regular member of the National Research Council of the Philippines and a diplomate of the Philippine College of Veterinary Epidemiologists. His research interests focus on veterinary epidemiology and parasitology, with particular emphasis on zoonotic and economically important diseases.
