Individual Reading Assignment BOOK REPORTS DUE March 15!

  • Students will read 800 pages by the end of the Quarter. (March 15)

  • Each student needs to read 21 pages of their personal choice book each school day.

  • One book has to be a Fiction piece and one book needs to be a Non-Fiction piece.

  • Students must submit a Book Report for each finished book.

Monday (5/17): Simple Probability

Finished up the last page of our test from Friday. Then we did a review game to review simple probability.

Tuesday (5/18): Theoretical vs. Experimental

We went over our mistakes and questions from the test. Then we learned the difference between theoretical and experimental probability and conducted experiments with dice, pennies, and cards.

8th Grade Algebra This Week:

Monday (5/17): Choosing a data display

We started by checking our homework. Then we watched a video on the appropriate time to use different data displays to show information. Then we watched another video that showed us how companies can change graphs to make them misleading to the customers. We completed a worksheet relating to the videos.

Tuesday (5/18): Review Standard Deviation and Box and whiskers

We checked our worksheets then began reviewing standard deviation by doing a problem together as a class. Then students completed their own problems on a spinner activity with a group of 3. In this activity they found mean, median, mode, range, variance, standard deviation, and the interquartile range. They then made a box and whisker plots of each data set and answered questions regarding that box and whisker plot.

Wednesday (5/19): Review data displays

Discussed IQR and how to find outliers for box and whisker plot data. Then they chose a topic worksheet that they wanted practice on before the test.

Thursday (5/20): Test

Took test over standard deviation, stem and leaf plots, histograms, box and whisker plots, and two-way frequency tables.

  • No assignment

Friday (5/21): Retakes

Last day to retake over any grades.
