Tier 1 supports ALL students
Tier 1
Tier 1 systems, data, and practices support everyone across all settings. They establish the foundation for delivering regular, proactive support and preventing unwanted behaviors.
Students are expected to follow these school wide expectations, and they receive periodic positive reinforcements when students are observed following our "Viking Spirit Expectations". Positive reinforcement is given by saying to the student:
"(Student name) thank you for (expectation followed). That's showing Viking Spirit by being (rule followed)."
"(Student) thank you for leaving no trace by picking up your trash when you are finished eating lunch. That's showing Viking Spirit by Being Responsible."
Viking Spirit Tickets are the tool VS educators use to provide students with positive feedback for following Viking Spirit. These can be redeemed in the classroom for special prizes, rewards, etc. and also help students earn school wide rewards.
"Office Discipline Referral"
Purpose: use discipline data and academic outcome data for decision making.
Majors (referrals of a more serious nature that may require office support)
Minors (teacher handled referrals)
If your child receives an ODR, staff will reach out to you with details of referral within 48 hours of incident.
