The VSA UCO welcomes approximately 60 individual visitors a year to give talks and mini-lecturers. Students from all year groups are welcome to attend these events.
We particularly encourage students in years 10, 11 and 12 to attend regularly. In year 11 and 12 there is a required minimum attendance at 5 visits.
The Summer break can be an ideal time to explore learning opportunities outside the classroom. These can provide enrichment by expanding and developing soft skills, increasing students' knowledge about a potential subject area of interest they may want to study in future or to test out potential career ideas through work experience. Summer programme opportunities are generally advertised from January each year. A collated list of these can be found here.
The VSA IB CAS programme also offers extensive opportunities for students to enrich their learning and seek opportunities for personal development during the school year.
In mid September each year the UCO runs the VSA University Fair, which has representatives from 90-120 institutions from around the world. Students and parents from all year groups are welcome to attend this event. We require students in years 10, 11 and 12 to attend.
In addition to the exhibitors in the sports hall, at each fair there are a number of presentations run throughout the event. At this year's fair, for example, we had sessions on Australia & NZ universities, Liberal Arts & Sciences in the USA, and Medicine in Hong Kong.
