Read through the newsletter for updates on student progress each week. Don't forget to add important dates to your family calendars so you do not miss out on any upcoming performances of students.
6th grade students made their final decisions on instrument choices. All students are now assigned an instrument and can take the instrument home to practice. They have all received information on how to rent or acquire their own personal instrument, if you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to reach out. The flyer is also attached below. Obtaining an Essential Elements Book 1 in their assigned instrument is also highly recommended as we will be using that method book daily in class.
This past week we have been working on mastering the first 3-5 notes on their instrument with a good sound quality.
4th hour students did a great job at the Fall Pep Assembly! 8th graders have really stepped up this year to learn 4 new pep band pieces in a short period of time! We will now shift our focus to learning music for our Hero's Day Performance.
Students have had a playing assignment over Ghostbusters due Thursday, Sept 24th, a playing assignment over the Fight Song due on Tuesday, Sept 29th, and Paint it Black due Wednesday, Oct 7th.

7th Grade students worked on small chamber ensemble groups. They were assigned a group and were tasked with choosing a leader to count the group off and choose which parts to play in a 3 part song. The students then performed their pieces for the class.
VPHS Families,
Our fall Parent/Teacher Conferences are scheduled for Wednesday, October 21, from 3:30–8:00 PM. We look forward to the opportunity to connect with our families, celebrate student successes, discuss academic progress, and work together to support our students.
This year, we are trying a new approach to scheduling conferences that will allow families to sign up directly with the teachers they would like to meet with.
How to Schedule Your Conferences:
Click the link below to access our Parent/Teacher Conference Teacher Directory.
Find the teacher you would like to meet with and click on their name. This will open that teacher's individual conference sign-up document.
Select an available 10-minute time slot and enter your student's name and your name in the appropriate spaces.
Repeat the process for any additional teachers you would like to meet with. Please allow enough time between appointments to travel to different classrooms.
Please do not change or delete any other family's information when signing up.

Students need to have their ID badge with them at all times during the school day. The only way to enter the band room and other exterior doors on campus is by unlocking the door with their ID badge. If students have a damaged or non working ID badge, they can get one from the office. If they have lost their ID, they need to get a replacement ID from the office and the fee is $5.00. Please verify with your child that they have a working ID badge.
