Accelerated Math & 6 Math
Accelerated Math:
This week in accelerated math we continued practice with dividing fractions and took our I-ready assessment. I-ready is a diagnostic assessment that helps us identify your student's strengths and weaknesses and assists in helping us build on their understanding. We will have a test on Topic 1 next Tuesday, September 10.
6 Math:
This week in math continued work with decimal operations and added practice with multiplying fractions. We also took our I-ready assessment. I-ready is a diagnostic assessment that helps us identify your student's strengths and weaknesses and assists in helping us build on their understanding. We have quiz on Tuesday, September 10 over decimal operations and multiplying fractions.
ELA
Reading
In Reading, students are receiving early exposure to Claim, Evidence, and Reasoning practice by reading (and writing) scary stories. We are focusing on a story analysis approach as to what makes a scary story truly suspenseful.
Writing
In Writing, students are continuing our introduction into grammar and the parts of speech with nouns. The quiz will be on Monday once we have practiced and review the content.
Science
This week we learned about the 8 characteristics of living things. We did a stations lab practicing vocabulary, microscopes, and making a claim. We finished the week with practicing the skills of writing procedures, measuring (with beakers, graduated cylinders, rulers, and scales) and following directions.
