Nearing the end of out timeline, we have a song from Pokémon Black, composed in 2010 once again by Go Ichinose from Japan. This music is meant to underscore the final battle in this game against a terrifying monster. (6)
Where Pokémon Sapphire walked, Pokémon Black sprinted. This song -- while still sound somewhat pixellated from the Nintendo DS's sound capabilities -- now utilizes a full range of orchestral instruments, and the computerized pitches from Tetris and Turtles in Time. Anything from the ominous sound of the low brass in the beginning moments to the soft rings of the triangle and marimba are heard crystal clear and are instantly recognizable as true instruments.
The fact that a portable console now flaunts eighteen different layers of music is a gargantuan upgrade from the previous entry's five shows definitive proof that video game music has had a steady course of improvement and evolution throughout the years.
