This is taking place in New Orleans, showing the impact rationing had nationwide. People had to bring their children to get more coupons to be able to provide for their entire families.
National Archives, Patriotic Posters, 1942
Printing Press
The U.S. printed these posters to try and create a sense of patriotism when they forced citizens to ration. The U.S. was hoping this would inspire people and help them believe that the rationing was for a good cause. The U.S. needed people to cooperate with the rationing system, otherwise, there would've been chaos, and this effort helped get some of the American people to back the system.
