Each fall and spring semester of the JEP program, the JEP will meet with their program advisor
The advisor verifies that the JEP is enrolled in courses appropriate to the course of study
The advisor verifies that the JEP is maintaining a 2.80 GPA with a C or better in each course
The advisor verifies that the JEP is making progress towards completing a minimum of 4 practicum experiences (this is when the JEP observes diverse classrooms other than their own).
The advisor verifies that the JEP participates in 4 observations each semester this is when the JEP is observed in their classroom either by their UTK Supervisor or by a school based observer. Copies of all formal observations must be uploaded to HAL.
The advisor verifies that ProCADs assessments are completed (JEP self-assessment, mentor assessment, and UTK supervisor assessment) in HAL
The advisor verifies that appropriate progress is being made towards the summative pedagogical assessment known as edTPA
**Note: Library JEPs must maintain a 3.00 GPA and are required to participate in a minimum of 3 observations each semester.
During the advising session each Fall and Spring, the UTK Advisor will verify all elements of the above gateway. If acceptable progress is not verified for the JEP, the advisor will issue a ProCADs Support plan for the JEP.
Job-Embedded teachers must be observed or coached a MINIMUM of 4 times a semester. Each observation must take place on a different date.
JE teacher observations are a partnership between the university and the LEA. The LEA will use a state-approved observation model.
UTK’s observations will be informal (i.e., coaching or walk through), TEAM observations. UTK supervisors will plan to conduct a minimum of two informal observations or coaching sessions each semester.
JE teachers will submit copies of their LEA-conducted observations to HAL.
**Note: If JE teachers do not submit their observations to HAL, a ProCADs Area for refinement can be issued.
If the LEA does not conduct at least two Formal observations a semester, UT supervisors should:
Conduct an additional informal observation or coaching session with the JE teacher at the conclusion of the semester in question, or
Conduct an additional informal observation or coaching session with the JE teacher at the start of the next semester (in addition to the required observations or coaching sessions for that semester).
ANY/ALL UTK-conducted observations and/or post-conferences can be conducted remotely.
For UTK-conducted observations or coaching sessions, observation documentation must be entered/uploaded to HAL within 5 school days of the observation.
For UTK-conducted observations or coaching sessions, feedback (distributed via HAL) will be shared with all relevant parties (candidate, school based mentor, UTK supervisor).
UTK observations should support and enhance the observations conducted by the LEA.
