Who is Emma Gunn?

Hello, my name is Emma Gunn, and am recent graduate from the University of Tennessee, at Knoxville (UTK), were I received a bachelors in Agriculture Leadership, Education and Communications (ALEC) with a minor in Agriculture Business. Where I also graduated Cum Laude and received honors. 

Growing up, I fell in love with all things agriculture! I was heavily involved in my high school FFA chapter as well as multiple different art clubs, which fueled my passion for photography, which is ulitmitaly what decided my college pathway.

I began my college career at Austin Peay State University (APSU), double majoring in Agriculture Communications and Photography. While there, I had the opportunity to serve as their Collegiate FFA Vice President and ran for FFA State Office for my hometown chapter. During that time, I met professors from UTK, which led me to transfer going into my sophomore year. Before leaving APSU, I was honored with the Most Outstanding Freshman Award, I received a scholarship for my photography, and earned the Tennessee Farmers Cooperative Scholarship. 

At UTK, I have been active in many different organizations, including Cru (a christian ministry on campus), a position on the Deans Advisory Board, and Food and Agribusiness Club. During my sophomore into junior year of college I worked as the assistant for the Herbert College of Agriculture's Communications director, I interviewed graduates from UTK and peers within my college, made graphics, and took photos for college events. 

I have also built a strong connection with the Tennessee Farmers Cooperative (TFC). I interned in their Communications Department during the summer of 2024 and 2025, wrote articles and strengthened my communications skills by applying what I have learned in the classroom. Currently, I work part time with Smoky Mountain Farmers Co-op, helping manage some of their social media, while still contributing to TFC’s Communications Department and the TFC Foundation. 

As I prepare to graduate, I am exploring opportunities in marketing within the agriculture industry and beyond. Ultimately, I hope to begin a career with UT Extension or in a marketing department where I can combine my passion for agriculture, communications, and creative storytelling.
