Classroom Meets Livingroom

So, you have suddenly become a home school family. Without the opportunity to plan ahead, taking on this new role as your child's teacher can be stressful. Use these tips linked below to help you get the hang of it and to make the most of this extra time with your child. Plus, check out this list of educational resources that you can use right now!

Most importantly, be kind to yourself. You're new at this teaching thing, and your child is new to taking classes on the couch. You don't have to have perfectly structured schedules or lesson plans to create meaningful teaching moments. Incorporate your child's education into your daily life. Math lessons can be taught in the kitchen, and science can be studied in the backyard. Let your child practice their writing, art, or music skills by creating something that demonstrates their knowledge of another subject. If they have been learning about outer space, can they write a paragraph, story, or poem about it? What about a song? Get the creativity flowing, and make this an enjoyable experience for both of you!
