International Workshop on Virtual Reality for Human and Spatial Augmentation (VR-HSA)

The 2nd International Workshop on Virtual Reality for Human and Spatial Augmentation (VR-HSA), held in conjunction with IEEE VR 2026, aims to unite experts and researchers in virtual reality, human augmentation, and spatial augmentation to explore cutting-edge innovations and address critical challenges. The workshop aims to create a collaborative environment where participants can share advancements, novel approaches, and research findings. By fostering interdisciplinary discussion, the event will focus on pushing the boundaries of human and spatial augmentation through VR technologies. The workshop also seeks to stimulate partnerships across academia, industry, and other sectors, driving forward the future of these transformative technologies. Ultimately, the goal is to inspire new research directions, facilitate knowledge exchange, and build a global network dedicated to advancing the capabilities of VR in augmenting human abilities and expanding spatial environments.

VR-HSA workshop seeks contributions in human and spatial augmentation including, but not limited to, the following topics:

• VR for human augmentation (cognitive, sensory, and physical enhancements)

• Spatial augmentation and interaction in immersive environments

• AI-driven VR applications for enhancing human capabilities

• Multisensory feedback and its role in human augmentation

• VR interfaces for skill acquisition and performance improvement

• AR for spatial expansion and human-technology interaction

• Adaptive environments and real-time adjustments in virtual and augmented spaces

• Human-augmentation technologies for healthcare, education, and training

• Ethics and societal impacts of human and spatial augmentation

• Long-term effects of immersive VR technologies on human performance

• Collaborative VR environments for research and skill development

• VR applications in assistive technologies for human augmentation

• Integration of haptics, vision, and sound in immersive augmentation experiences

• Augmentation technologies for physical rehabilitation and therapy

• VR and AR for the enhancement of communication and teamwork in augmented environments

• Innovative hardware and software solutions for human augmentation in VR

Submission Guidelines

All paper submissions must be written in English and prepared in IEEE Computer Society VGTC conference format (https://tc.computer.org/vgtc/publications/conference/). 

We welcome paper submissions between 2 to 4 pages, not including references.

We have two submission categories: non-archival and archival. A non-archival paper will not be published. A non-archival paper will not be published but shared only among the onsite conference attendees. An accepted paper in the archival category will be published in the IEEE Digital Library. A manuscript submitted to the archival category should not be simultaneously under consideration for another conference or journal during any part of the review process, from the submission deadline until notifications of decisions.

The papers must be submitted via a submission system (https://new.precisionconference.com/). On the submission page, you can make a new submission by selecting "VR" in Society, "IEEE VR 2026" in Conference/Journal, and "IEEE VR 2026 Workshop: VR-HSA" in Track, and click "Go."

All submissions will be reviewed by the workshop organizers and other external reviewers (single-blind review).
