Waterbury's 2026 Town Plan Update

planWTB is a community planning process designed to help Waterbury residents
and stakeholders choose the future they want for the community.

Led by the Waterbury Planning Commission, the process will allow us to create a
community vision for the future and map out an action plan to make it happen.

Thanks for the all the comments received during the Draft Town Plan Hearing Process - comments are now closed.

The Planning Commission is in the process of incorporating feedback and will present a revised version of the Plan to the Select Board for their review and hearing process. They will hold two Hearings where the public will be invited to comment on the Plan.

Heads up! This plan looks a little different. To make the Town Plan more reader-friendly - and less likely to end up dusty on a shelf - the Planning Commission worked with the Town's consultants to produce an online plan. See below for tips on navigating.

Waterbury's Town Plan is meant to be a reflection of our community and our shared vision for the future. The Planning Commission is grateful for all of the residents, volunteer committee and board members, municipal staff, regional and state partners, and local business owners who shared their time, experience and insights to help shape the draft plan.

The Waterbury Town Plan serves as the framework for the future of Waterbury, especially with regard to the decisions that will guide growth and investments, as well as ensures the Town has a seat at the table during state regulatory proceedings.

It describes the town’s history, existing physical, social and economic conditions and establishes a vision for the future. This vision is supported by specific goals and action items.

The Waterbury Planning Commission is charged with updating the Town Plan every eight years; Waterbury's Town Plan was last updated in 2018. The revised plan will reflect the vision, goals, objectives, and actions that the town members have identified. The commission will be seeking input and participation from residents and organizations throughout 2024-2025. Our goal is to complete the Town Plan update by the end of 2026.
