VMP Complete Guide to the HP Tuner's RTD Interface and Software - RTD Flasher, VCM Scanner
HOW TO PULL STOCK FILE VIA RTD FLASHER
*Note: We're only taking a copy of the stock file, the stock file will still be installed on the vehicle after you pull it and you will still be able to drive the vehicle*
What you will need:
Windows Laptop
RTD Flasher Program: Click HERE to download the RTD Flasher Program

** If the file does not begin read, or there is an "Unknown Controllers Detected" message, select the processor that corresponds to the ECU from the drop down menu before clicking read - examples below**
ECM Processors:
2018+ vehicles, GEN3 Control Packs, : TC-298, 18+ Ford
2020+ GT500, : TC-298B, 18+ Ford
TCM Processors:
2020+ GT500, : TR-C75, Ford
STEP 5) Save the .RTD stock file - Video Time Stamp 2:59
Once the stock file has been read, save the stock file in a location that you will be able to find it later.
We suggest saving the stock file in a folder named "VMP Tuning" on the desktop
STEP 6) Sending the .RTD stock file to your calibrator - Video Time Stamp 3:09
Send the .RTD file as an email attachment as a response to the email chain you've been corresponding with your calibrator in.

DATALOGGING INFORMATION
Datalogging your vehicle allows your tuner to see ECU parameters in real time and make tuning adjustments accordingly.
A good datalog will help your tuner address concerns and verify proper vehicle operation.
The following is IMPORTANT when datalogging:
Using the necessary parameters
This is CRUCIAL when addressing concerns. VMP offers configuration files that will layout the needed parameters for many vehicle platforms.
Preferred naming convention of datalog file
Please name your file with this naming convention:LAST NAME - FUEL BEING USED - TYPE OF LOG - DATE - SCT DEVICE SERIAL NUMBER.CSV
Example) Smith-93Octane-IdleSlowRev-01012020-X4111222333.CSV
Important Notes:
Please have gone through at least (2) consecutive tanks of one type of fuel before logging
Please turn off the air conditioning and defrost before starting your recording.
VCM SCANNER - HOW TO DATALOG
What you will need:
Windows Laptop
RTD Flasher Program: Click HERE to download the VCM Suite Software
* VCM Suite includes both the VCM Editor and VCM Scanner software - you only need VCM SCANNER to datalog *
STEP 1) Connect the RTD Cable - Video Time Stamp 1:43
STEP 2) Download and open VCM Scanner software - Video Time Stamp 5:44
STEP 3) Connect vehicle, then disconnect from vehicle - Video Time Stamp 6:13
Click the "Connect to Vehicle" button located in the top left of the screen - symbolized by a small car.
Click the "Disconnect from vehicle" button located directly next to the "Connect to Vehicle Button"
*This has to be done in order to complete the next step
STEP 4) Change the User OS ID
Click the "Vehicle" tab, then navigate to Vehicle Profiles > Vehicle Profile Editor. In the User OS field, enter in the OS ID that has been provided by your calibrator.
Example of OS ID: FPFR1AB.H32 (THIS IS JUST AN EXAMPLE OF AN ID - PLEASE USE THE ID PROVIDED BY YOUR CALIBRATOR)
Once the User OS has been set, please reconnect to the vehicle again, as you had done in step 3.
NOTE: Failing to do this step properly will result in the parameteres showing up as grey broken links.
STEP 5) Load the channel (.XML) configuration file - Video Time Stamp 6:25
Once connected, click the yellow folder icon that has the gear and click the "Open Channel Config" button. Locate and select the configuration (.XML) file that you received from VMP.
Once complete, your parameters will load on the left side of the screen
STEP 6) Start the datalog recording - Video Time Stamp 6:54
You can begin logging by clicking the RED record button labeled "Start Scanning".
STEP 7) Record the requested datalogs
Your calibrator will request datalogs based on the conditions they are wanting to see.
Types of Datalogs:
Please perform ONLY the datalogs requested by your tuner - below are examples of the datalogs you may be requested to perform.
Idle / Slow Rev Datalog:
Allow the vehicle to get up to operating temperature. The vehicle should idling in neutral/park for a few minutes before this log is performed.
Start the datalog and allow the vehicle to idle for 30 seconds, then slowly rev the vehicle up to ~100 RPM before redline, and then let off the pedal to allow the vehicle to return to idle.
The rev should be a smooth transition, with steady pedal input all the through the RPM range before letting off the pedal to return to idle.
WOT Datalog: *Please do not perform WOT datalogs unless advised to do so.**
This datalog should capture a WOT (Wide Open Throttle) pull. This should be done in a gear that will not break traction. The pedal should be completely to the floor from 2,500 RPM to 6,000 RPM. We do not recommend starting pulls lower than 2,500 RPM.
Cold Start Datalog: *These logs are not necessary, unless requested by calibrator*
This datalog should capture the cold start taking place. Turn the key to the ON position, but do not start the engine. Start the datalog recording, and then start the engine. The datalog can be stopped after ~3 minutes of run time.
STEP 8) Stop your datalog recording and saving the datalog - Video Time Stamp 7:13
Once you're done, you're able to stop the datalog by clicking the BLUE stop button labeled "Stop Scanning".
Save the datalog by navigating to "Log File" and clicking "Save Log File As"
* Save the file in a location you will be able to find it later
STEP 9) Send the datalog file to your calibrator - Video Time Stamp 7:47
Send the datalog file as a reply to the email chain with your calibrator.
