Education was one of the sectors most affected by the pandemic created by Covid 19. The students found themselves in the situation of not going to school anymore and of asking themselves to what extent they can still fulfill their dreams, desires, professional aspirations in the new contextual situation created by the Covid 19. pandemic. The school began to run on "Traffic-light" scenarios: green when all students are in class, yellow when half of the student body is in class and half is at home and studying in the online system and the red script when all students are at home and learning in the online system. The only solution to ensure the continuity of the educational instructional process was the use of computers and digital means. The biggest challenge was for teachers, who had to change the teaching strategy, methods, give up direct communication, and communicate through the computer, computer screen, laptop, tablet, phone being the interface between teachers and students.

We are a boarding school in Sweden located close to Stockholm. We have both boarding students and day students at the age of 13-18 years old. We follow the Swedish curriculum and also the IB Middle years program. At SSHL, students can begin their education as early as year-class 7 for the IB Middle Years Programme, or at the beginning of High School. Students may choose from several Swedish academic programs or as an alternative to the International Baccalaureate in English. As a foundation, SSHL is not run for profit. The remaining funds are re-invested into the school. There are approximately 185 boarding students and 680-day students at SSHL, although this can vary from year to year. At present, the boarding school comprises seven student houses, of which three are for girls, three are for boys and one is a mixed home for the middle school pupils. Houseparents (on duty 24- 7) and House Tutors are there to help students deal with the challenge of studying at a boarding school. We are committed to helping students develop to the fullest of their potential.
Although they live off-campus, day students are just as much a part of campus life and are included in all campus activities and events. They are affiliated with a student house and are welcome to participate in all the school’s activities and socialize with their friends at SSHL. Humanistic and holistic principles guide our approach at SSHL. We believe that all knowledge is interconnected and valuable, from classical school subjects to the sport, to creative arts and recreational activities. With a focus on the student as a complete whole, our teachers strive to foster every student’s unique talents and potential. Each student creates their own course of study. The school’s academic performance has surpassed the national average for many years, particularly in the IB Diploma Programme, the international programme taught in English. We believe that committed teachers, a focus on the individual, a wholesome learning environment where students can study in peace and quiet all contribute significantly to academic achievement. Each class has never more than 28 students, and extra help with homework is available every day. Our experienced staff can provide extra support as needed.
A general aspect of today's schools is the growing number of young people suffering from mental health problems in many different ways. Mental health problems could be stress, loneliness, anxiety and many other situations. This is very evident among SSHL students. Young people today use the various means of digitization in their daily lives and it would be interesting to see how digitization correlates with verbal and nonverbal communication, so as to avoid mental health problems, bullying, discrimination through these actions.
