We offer several different options to explore careers, including our Career Exploration course, Career Connections, Career Courses, Job Shadows, and Micro-Internships. Whichever offering you pursue, you'll start to identify areas that interest you most, so that you can refine your search and pinpoint which careers closely align with those interests. The best part? As you complete your career-focused learning, we will reward you with school credit as well as a badge!
You also have the option to work with one of our professional partners who can serve as your expert. They can share details about the different roles within their job, provide feedback on a project, and answer questions you might have about their field.

Career Connections
What are Career Connections?
Live Career Connections sessions are virtual video conferences with industry professionals that any student enrolled in a VLACS course can attend! Each Career Connections session, a new guest speaker will talk to students about their career paths. You may take a tour of their workplace, have a Q&A session, or see what a day in their job is like. Discover how you can turn your talents and passions into a successful career and join a session that interests you!
To attend a session, create a Career Connections account, or log in to your existing account. Go to your dashboard, select "Access Live Session" and enter your access code. You will receive the access code in an email after you fill out the registration form found in the Career Connections calendar.

Court Street Vet (Keene, NH) is offering a four-week paid internship opportunity to students who want to learn more about careers in Veterinary Medicine! Students will have the opportunity to work directly with Veterinary Nurses, Doctors, and Administrators to gain exposure to this profession & learn more about the many different career paths in the field. Students will assist with animal handling, patient care (feeding, watering, walking, cleaning & laundry assistance), medical rounds, and case discussion to include diagnostics & imaging, observing surgical procedures, and more. Dartmouth Hitchcock Pre-Apprenticeship: Dartmouth Hitchcock is partnering with River Valley Community College to offer high school students the opportunity to participate in a pre-apprenticeship. This is a combined academic and job experience, designed to build knowledge and skills that will help you be successful in a future healthcare career. Specifically, this experience will prepare students for a paid apprenticeship - Associate’s Degree programs for Medical Assistants, Pharmacy Technicians, and Surgical Technologists. NH Needs Caregivers: The New Hampshire Needs Caregivers program is offering high school students over the age of 16 an opportunity to get paid LNA training with employment commitment in a skilled nursing or long-term care facility. Click here to download the application.
The McGarr Real World Learning Award provides funding for activities and projects up to $500.
For juniors and seniors, these funds may be used for activities or projects related to the student’s developing interests and career goals. Examples include certification exams, business start-up costs, or equipment needed to pursue a career or interest.
For graduating seniors, funds may be used for expenses connected to their post-graduate plan career goals. This includes covering expenses such as certification or licensing courses or exam fees, launching a business, and acquiring necessary equipment for career pursuits.
*Students must be enrolled in an Experience to be eligible for this award.
Aviation Career Day
Nashua Community College will be hosting Aviation Career Day on March 26, from 10:00-12:30, for any high school students interested in learning about the industry! During the event, you will hear from a panel of experts in the Aviation industry and ask questions about Aviation careers during a Q&A Session. You will also get an opportunity to participate in a mini career fair and campus tour, including speaking with the Aviation professors and students and a visit to the Aviation Lab and Classroom facilities.

Manchester Community College Career Fair
Manchester Community College will be hosting a free Career Fair on April 9th from 10am-12:30pm. During the event, there will be a Q&A Panel with industry experts as well as a tour of Manchester Community College. Lunch will be provided!

This summer the University of New Hampshire is offering virtual and in-person camps you can earn school credit for at VLACS! Do a STEAM-focused project, or join a sports camp, then demonstrate your learning to meet the academic competencies within the Micro-internship offering! Intern and Apprenticeship Opportunities - Awato Job Board
The NH Department of Education and Awato have launched a program to connect high school students to work-based experiences! Through the Work! as Learning program, you can get paid up to $15 while receiving on-the-job training from employers across NH. The best part is that as you participate in the training program, you can also earn high school credit through VLACS!
To get started, create an Awato account (it's easy and FREE!) Then, login and go to the "Find Opportunities" page. Click the "Experience" tab, find an opening that suits your interest, and apply! Once you secure a position, enroll in a VLACS experience, like the micro-internship offering and start earning!
