What is the FFA?

Check out this video for a little background!

The FFA is a national youth organization with over 500,000 members and 7,000 chapters in all 50 United States, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. The Future Farmers of America was formed in 1928 as a vocational agriculture training program.  It has grown into so much more since that time, offering students many choices in academics, career technical training, leadership development, competitive events and entrepreneurial experiences!

The FFA Mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.

The Vista FFA Chapter, is located in Vista, California. Located within the San Diego Section and Southern Region of the California FFA Association, our chapter has over 100 members. We have a long history in Vista, with the program originally starting in 1932. We offer seven different agricultural courses, including Introduction to Agriculture, Agriculture Biology, Agriculture Chemistry, Advanced Sustainable Agriculture, Veterinary Science, Horticulture, and Agriculture Business Management. Our program offers pathways in AgriScience and Animal Science, with a chance for every student to complete both pathways while at Vista High School.

Hello! My name is Mrs. Benner and I’ve been an Ag teacher for 22 years, 21 of them at Vista High! My husband and I have been married for seventeen years and we have three awesome kiddos, Conrad (27), Canyon (15) and Dakota (13)). In my free time I love taking family day trips, and completing DIY projects on our house. I’m glad you're here!

Experience

My Ag education experience started in college when I took an AgEd class as a senor.. I was Hooked. I decided to ditch my original plans and become an Ag teacher. I graduated in Animal Science Cal Poly SLO and then completed my teaching credential & Masters in AgScience at Cal Poly Pomona. I have lots of experience working with trail horses, on cattle ranches and love working with our rabbitry, in the gardens and greenhouse → YES we have a greenhouse!
