About me

I was destined to be a teacher even if I did not always believe that would be my career. Growing up as the oldest of five children, I practiced being a teacher with my one sister and three brothers frequently afterschool. Yet, I disregarded the idea of making it my career because I was too nervous to speak in front of a large group. While in college part-time for 13 years, I worked full-time in the front office of doctors' offices to pay my own way through school. Although I had earned a Master's Degree in Educational Counseling, I was not hired as a counselor because I did not possess any teaching experience. Finally I realized that I should stop fighting destiny. By this time too, I had presented several times in each of my classes throughout college. Speaking in front of a group was not much of a challenge anymore.

I decided to return to college to earn my multiple subject, single subject in English, and single subject in Social Sciences teaching credentials. It is difficult to believe this is my 15th year teaching already! Initially, I taught at the college level for two years. I decided to work with children instead, so I taught first grade for one year and now middle school for 10 years. Now I can say I have the best job in the world!

My husband, Richard, and I have been married for 25 years. We have one son, Benjamin, who is ten years old. We enjoy going camping, bike riding, playing games, and reading.
