VVA Families,
We made it through the first progress reports of the semester. As we move through the rest of the semester there are a few things coming up. We had PFT testing for 7th and 9th grade students and will be moving into State Testing week once we come back from Spring break. Please keep in touch with your advisor if you have any questions or concerns. We are excited to welcome a lot of new students and have seen growth at VVA over the last several weeks.
Attendance Matters!
How do you get attendance at VVA?
Attendance is based off how much work you are doing. To gain attendance you need to be attending school a minimum of 240 minutes a day. This includes the time you spend in advisory, working out, and your one one one meetings. Unfortunately logging in and not doing work does not count as attendance. Please speak to your advisory for specific questions you may have. We will be working with a new system called Pathways to integrate a more consistent attendance process.

Evan Uhren VVA's Rising Star for March, came to VVA in the fall of his junior year at the end of an unsuccessful semester at RBV. His goal was to get caught up and return to RBV for senior year. Evan met his goal and went back to RBV. The traditional style of RBV was not a good fit for Evan and he returned to VVA in December, finding the flexibility of VVA a better fit for his learning style and worki schedule. Evan was determined to get caught up and graduate on time. He completed all of his credits in March, surpassing his goal and graduating three months early.

“One child, one teacher, one book, one pen can change the world.”― Malala Yousafzai (1997- ), Pakistani female education activist, Nobel Peace Prize laureate.
“My mission in life is not merely to survive but to thrive and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” – Maya Angelou (1928-2014), memoirist, poet, civil rights activist.
Every year, March is designated Women’s History Month by presidential proclamation. The month is set aside to honor women’s contributions in American history.
The National Women’s History Month’s theme for 2024 celebrates “Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.” The theme recognizes women throughout the country who understand that, for a positive future, we need to eliminate bias and discrimination entirely from our lives and institutions.
Women from every background have long realized that an uneven playing field will never bring equality or justice. Many feel the critical need to speak up and work harder for fairness in our institutions and social interactions.
During 2024, we recognize the example of women who are committed to embracing everyone and excluding no one in our common quest for freedom and opportunity. They know that people change with the help of families, teachers and friends, and that young people in particular need to learn the value of hearing from different voices with different points of view as they grow up.
