Responsible for coordinating, structuring and overseeing a variety of music-related programs, performances and production including music classes, circle time, concerts, cast ensembles and choir performances; maintain class records and record/report grades/progress in a timely manner.
Instill music knowledge of materials and repertoire for students at different stages of their musical development and evaluate students on their progress; transcribe musical compositions and related theories.
Use ongoing assessments to determine the starting point for instruction, monitor instructional needs and evaluate student progress, social skills and learning skills; identify and build on student strengths; provide assistance on the supervision of students before and after class instruction; assist students in the development of responsible behaviors and positive work ethic.
Promote knowledge and understanding of culture through music and engagement in active, hands-on, creative and innovative approaches; help students learn music effectively through a variety of teaching materials, instruments, voice lessons or classroom activities.
Responsible for recruiting, training and rehearsing student members of the music choir; prepare students for performances, examinations, auditions handle all logistics pertaining to concert organization and music production.
Support students in their use of music technology; keep current with major musical software tools and incorporate recording and other technology practices in lessons.
Participate in quarterly VAM faculty concert; arrange and organize student recitals at least once each semester.
