A native of Taiwan, Yu-Ting Wang embarked on her musical journey with the piano when she was four years old and later expanded her musical horizons with the oboe when she was eight. In Taiwan, she completed her BM at the National Ping-Tung University with Professor Ying-Shio Kuo. She later came to the U.S. and received her Master of Arts in Oboe Performance at San José State University where she studied with renowned oboe professor Dr. Michael Adduci.
Wang began her professional career in Taiwan in 1999 where she was awarded 1st place in the Solo Oboe Contest in the National Music Competition of Taiwan. She furthered her career as the principal oboe of both the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra Wind Ensemble and the Taichung City Symphony Orchestra from 2003 to 2009. She later joined the Taiwan Wind Ensemble in 2006. Wang has performed in concerts with the German Brass in 2007 and the Japan Shimane-Ken Wind Ensemble in 2008. In 2009, she played in the concert Multimedia & Orchestra, The Map, conducted by Tan Dun. She was also an integral member in the creation of the 2008 album of Taiwan Folksong Works. In 2001, she was interviewed by NHK TV show (Japan) as an outstanding music teacher.
After moving to the U.S. in 2009, she won the second prize of the prestigious San José Music Club Scholarship Competition. Currently, Wang holds the principal oboe position at the Silicon Valley Philharmonic. She also taught oboe sectionals at Miller Middle School and Los Gatos High School from 2016 to 2018. Her students have received many awards from state-level to national-level competitions throughout the United States and have been chosen to multiple distinguished orchestras in the South Bay Area as well as San Francisco Youth Symphony. In addition, three of her outstanding students were admitted to Stanford University in the last five years. She continues to actively perform with various groups and musicians as an oboist and piano accompanist.
