Dr. Michelle Hsu

Dr. Hsu pursued her master and doctoral degrees at the University of Texas at Austin under the guidance of Bion Tsang. She received her bachelor’s degree in cello performance from National Taiwan Normal University. In 2019, she completed the Suzuki Cello Book teacher training course in Taiwan, led by Shuyi Scott. Dr. Hsu was appointed Assistant Principal with the Central Texas Philharmonic in 2024-2025 and served as cello substitute in 2023. She plays as a cello substitute with Waco Symphony Orchestra and New World Symphony in 2024–2025.
In Taiwan, she played cello substitute with YinQi Choral-Symphonic Orchestra, National Taiwan University of Arts Chinese Orchestra, and Philharmonia Moments Musicaux. On February 15, 2025, Dr. Hsu premiered Washington Arirang at the East Pacific Spirit Culture Conference in Baltimore. She was invited by Professor Sandy Yamamoto to perform in the “Sandy and Friends” concert in 2022. From 2018 to 2019, she frequently represented NTNU perform at the Chimei Museum in Tainan. She performed as a musician for the Popular Music department at NTNU in a concert that featured singer Michelle Pan (Pan Yueh-Yun). She also participate in the recording of Say No More by the band Chairman.
She was a member in the cello ensemble “Cello Rock”. It was selected for the 'Rising Stars' concert series by the New Taipei City Government and perform at the New Taipei City Arts Center Concert Hall in 2018 In 2025, Dr. Hsu will release an album of cello solo and chamber works by female composers—including Clara Schumann, Rebecca Clarke, and Sarana Chou—in collaboration with violist Gwanji Lee.
