This program for grade ten provides students with the opportunity to study the history of the world from 1750 until the present day. This chronological approach cultivates the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to function effectively in an independent, diverse world. This program will focus on the historical and global themes by utilizing primary sources and documents.
Grades will be calculated using the following percentages-
Tests and Quizzes: 50%
Homework: 20%
Classwork: 30%
Materials Needed: Pen or Pencil and a folder. These items must be brought to class everyday. You will get LOTS of handouts in this class, so you need a thick binder.
Class Participation: Students should come to class prepared to participate in the day's activities. The expectation is that students will be engaged in active learning during class time.
Homework: Homework will be assigned frequently and will be collected and graded. A homework calendar will be provided.
Textbook: May be brought home, students do not need to bring this book to class as it will be used for reference during the school year.
1. The rules set forth by the Lakeland High School Conduct Code must be followed at all times.
2. There will be no food in class. Drinks are permitted but you are not allowed to leave the room to get one.
3. You may leave the room only to use the restroom. You may not go to the cafeteria, guidance, another teacher, or your locker with the restroom pass.
4. Cell Phones and other electronic devices are not allowed in class for non-educational use, if you use these items in class they will be confiscated and given to the appropriate Assistant Principal. Students are expected to leave their phones in the holder at the start of class and not remove them until class is over.
5. Cheating will not be allowed in this class.
