At Ben Franklin Elementary, students will experience a wide variety of music learning and participation. Students attend a forty-minute general music class once per 5-day cycle.
Students can expect to experience:
Singing, alone and with others
Playing classroom percussion instruments, both pitched and non-pitched (ex. xylophones, rhythm sticks, shakers, hand drums, and more)
Reading music notes, both traditional and non-traditional notation
Reading and performing rhythms
Performing on recorders (grades 3, 4, and 5)
Listening to music and developing skills to listen actively
Learning about various musical styles, genres, and composers
Moving often in music class through games, dancing, and other activities
