Thank you for visiting my School Counseling page. My name is Jennifer Oppriecht and I am the School Counselor for Viroqua Elementary (PK-4) and Viroqua Area Montessori (Children's House & E1) Schools. As a School Counselor, I work with students in many different ways: developmental classroom guidance lessons, small group counseling, and individual counseling. I also collaborate with school staff and parents to best meet the needs of our students. My goal is to ensure that the social/emotional, academic, and career needs of all students are met and that students are fully prepared to make positive choices, both now and for their future. Explore this site to learn more about my role as a School Counselor and to find resources that may be helpful to you and your child. Feel free to contact me any time with questions or concerns.

I visit all classrooms in grades K-4 many times throughout the year to teach developmental classroom guidance. Lessons are 30 minutes in length and cover a wide range of topics such as emotion regulation, conflict resolution, careers, and school success.
A variety of small groups are offered throughout the school year. Small group topics vary each year, depending on the needs of the students. Popular topics include friendship, school success, and social skills. Small groups generally consist of 4-6 students and meet for 20-30 minutes once per week. No child is ever included in a small group without their parents' knowledge.
I also offer individual sessions for students who are having academic, emotional, or social challenges. I can also help you explore community resources available to help support your child.
