This pupil from Room 6 has had an exciting few weeks. Not only has he been working hard to finish his school books, he's been doing lots of fun activities as well. He and his family went on a trip to Dublin Zoo and had a great time! He and his brother have been saving their money for months and they finally saved enough to buy a trampoline. They're having great fun on it. He also did some concreting with his dad and he built his very own raft.

The dreary weather hasn't stopped this pupil from Room 6 from having fun this week! He spent some time playing board games such as Five-Minute Rule, UNO, and Checkers. When the weather picked up, he went to the forest on a minibeast hunt and found a grasshopper! He also enjoyed doing an experiment from his Folens Explorers book in which he tested a variety of materials to see if they would dissolve in water. He took part in a 'Community Cleanup'; he picked up litter to tidy the town and help the environment. Finally, he's enjoying a new book called Magic Tree House: Pirates' Treasure by Mary Pope Osborne.

This budding author from Room 5 engaged in some creative writing this week. She wrote a fantastic story entitled 'Candy and the Fox'. She also completed some indoor activities such a jigsaws and puzzles, and some outdoor activities such as cycling and the sack race.

This pupil from Room 5 had a great time taking part in our Virtual Sports Day activities. She even put her own twist on some of the activities; rather than using an egg for the egg-and-spoon race, she tried using marshmallows, oranges, potatoes and peaches to see whether the heavier or lighter items worked better.

This pupil from Room 6 didn't let the cloudy weather stop him from having fun this week. He and his sister played carrom and chess inside, he completed a one-minute cup stacking challenge, he interviewed a grandparent over the phone to find out more about life in the past, he made paper airplanes and boats and he completed an egg-and-spoon race as part of our Virtual Sports Day.

This young scientist from Room 5 has been doing some experiments this week. He mixed bread soda and vinegar together to create a fizzy explosion! He's also been busy farming and minding the animals. He made a pond-like home for some frogs with grass, clay and water. It has four frogs in it now!

He did a project on his great grand uncle 'Big Jim Smith', the first footballer to captain Cavan to an All-Ireland Senior Football Championship title in 1933! He's also been practising his carpentry skills; he's making his own wooden table. Finally, he took part in our Virtual Sports Day activities with the long jump!

This pupil from Room 6 has been spending lots of time outdoors working on new skills, such as basketball, swimming and badminton. He also made an origami ninja sword and a ninja base from Lego. He tried out an experiment from RTE's Home School Hub in which he had to stand on some eggs! He's also been enjoying reading in his spare time. This week, he read Magic Tree House: Secret of the Pyramid by Mary Pope Osborne. He learned lots of new facts about Ancient Egypt while reading this book!

She's also been making the most of the lovely weather, going for walks in the forest and helping with the gardening. She created some fantastic artwork using various objects she could find around the house. She painted and decorated egg shells to make these decorative mushrooms. She also did some rock painting and created some fantastic designs.

This creative pupil from Room 6 made these beautiful, colourful coasters and placemats with his sister this week. Not only are they very handy and lovely to look at, but they're made from plastic straws - this means that this pupil is reducing his plastic waste and helping to save the environment! To create these, he cut up different coloured straws and put them on a sheet of baking paper, put another sheet of baking paper on top and ironed it for a few minutes with help from his mum. Well done! He's also been busy with his schoolwork, riding his bike and playing badminton using their new badminton net.

Her and her family enjoy long walks in the forest at the weekend and during the week she explores all around the farm. Her daddy got his silage cut this week so they had races around the fields! It's hungry work, so they use their camping cooker to cook some food for themselves when taking a break. He's also been busy keeping up with his schoolwork and playing football.

This pupil from Room 6 has been working super hard this week! For maths, he did some addition, counting of various objects in his home like spoons and forks, investigated things that come in pairs and in threes and went on a shape hunt to find things in his home that are shaped like cylinders. To practise his writing, he put some words into sentences and listed the names of people who live in his house.

This creative pupil from Room 6 turned some empty kitchen roll holders into art this week! He made a lovely frog and even made a piggy bank to help him save the money he gets from the Tooth Fairy! He also wrote a fantastic haiku poem about a dog named Joe and worked super hard at his maths and handwriting.

This pupil from Room 6 has been using this time to learn lots of new life skills, one of them being cooking! Judging from the delicious dinner he helped his mother prepare, we could have a future chef on our hands! He also made himself a laptop using paper, played some memory games with his dad, taught his little sister how to play Dominos, built a sandcastle down by the lake and enjoyed reading some more books, including The Lion King and Horrid Henry Meets the Queen.

This busy bee from Room 6 has been hard at work this week. As well as keeping up with his maths and handwriting, he tested himself on all the spellings he's done so far and he aced it! He also wrote a very informative factfile on cheetahs and drew this lovely picture to go with it. He celebrated his sister's birthday last week with some delicious birthday cake and a bike ride. He wrote Ms Lawlor a lovely note too which had her smiling from ear to ear!

This lucky pupil from Room 5 celebrated her 8th birthday last week! Her favourite birthday present was a diary; she writes in it everyday. She also got a new book, Daisy and the Trouble with Life by Kes Gray, which she's really enjoying. He also continued to make some fantastic creations with origami; this week he made a ninja star! He read Valley of the Dinosaurs by Mary Pope Osborne which he thought was great. This diligent pupil from Room 5 has had a very active week taking part in the Virtual Explore Cavan Challenge that was set for PE. From Cavan, she has already made it to Butlersbridge, Ballyhaise, Ballinagh and Arvagh. She has also climbed Aghalion Hill and Shantemon by way of jumping on the trampoline. She's also been practising her writing this week; she completed a book review of David Walliams' book Slime and created a Covid-19 information leaflet.

This creative pupil from Room 5 made these beautiful masquerade masks for a tea party. She got to dress up and enjoy some lovely cakes and treats. She is having a busy month as she and her family are walking 100km during the month of May to raise money for charity. So far they have walked 36km and raised €220 - super work! She has been practising telling the time, completing her schoolwork, playing games with her sister and reading. She is currently reading Gangsta Granny by David Walliams which is very funny!

This adventurous pupil from Room 6 has been making the most of the lovely weather with this DIY waterslide in the garden! He's also been spending lots of time outdoors playing football, going for walks and cycling his bike. He's been watching RTE's Home School Hub and doing his schoolwork too. He used the Home School Hub to create this Donegal tweed. He wrote some lovely messages on it and gave it to his daddy for his birthday. He and his brother also made birthday cakes to celebrate their mammy and daddy's recent birthdays! This pupil is a sports fanatic and enjoyed reading this book all about GAA All-Star Colm Cooper. In his spare time, he has enjoyed video calling his friends.

A gardening enthusiast from Room 5 and her family decided to plant some sunflowers at the beginning of lockdown. They will look after these sunflowers to help them grow big and strong and, when it is safe to do so, will give them to their family members to plant. They hope these sunflowers will produce lots of new seeds to plant again next year.
She then explored the lifecycle of a sunflower and created her own sunflower artwork by cutting and decorating toilet roll holders.

A nature-lover from Room 5 explored the effects of climate change for Earth Day 2020. One thing she looked at was how the production of plastic contributed to climate change around the world as well as other harmful effects it has in terms of litter and obstruction to animals.
With this in mind, she decided to recycle a milk carton, turning it into a bird feeder. She designed, cut and decorated it, then filled it with bread before hanging it in the garden.
