This course is offered as professional development for K-8 educators through Virtual Virginia. The goal of the course is to help K-8 educators implement integrated computer science instruction. Participants will engage in learning about integration strategies and computer science content and pedagogy. The course provides computer science integration lesson examples across grade bands and subject areas and can be completed individually or as part of a cohort.
In addition to the goals above, the course aims for the participants to:
Develop understanding of curriculum integration strategies.
Develop understanding of the Computer Science Strands and the associated Virginia Computer Science Standards of Learning.
Develop understanding and be able to apply specific integration strategies to teach CS.
Develop self-confidence and have the resources to implement integrated CS lessons.
