On October 31, 2018, Petway students dressed to represent one of the ten character traits on the Pathway to Patriot Pride! Students doned costumes that represented a trait that best reflects their character: responsibility, respect, good manners, encouragement, acceptance, cooperation, effort, honesty, resolve problems or personal pride. There was the Captain of Honesty because she always tells the truth. Students were the Superboy/Supergirl of Responsibility because they always returns their library book. There were Prince or Princess of Personal Pride because they always try their best. We are very proud of our Petway Patriots. By following the Pathway - they are all superheroes of good character!
If you change the launch angle of a rocket, will the rocket fly further? That's what Petway's LEAP students wanted to find out. They observed several launches (online!!!) and hypothesized that increasing launch angle would increase flying distance. First, they formed research teams to design an experiment, identify variables and build rockets. The teams of Petway scientists tested their hypothesis by launching straw rockets at different angles and recording distances. Most importantly, they learned that the Pathway to Patriot Pride, which encompasses cooperation and effort, yields great rewards in learning!

To celebrate the week or respect Mrs. Mastrogiovanni, Mrs. O’Donoghue, and Mrs. Scarpa’s classes participated in an act of kindness by collecting and donating treats to create kindness baskets for Vineland’s Police and Fire departments. Fourth grade students added to their baskets with hand written letters of thanks while Kindergarten created cards of thanks for all our community helpers do for our Vineland. Firefighters and Policemen visited Petway to discuss their responsibilities and take the baskets to others they work with. Petway Patriots learned how fun and easy it is to spread kindness!
