1. Syllabus: (25-26) Tran Quang Khai HS - Syllabus
Materials: All classes (both advanced and elective levels) use the same materials.
Identification: Advanced classes are marked as "Advanced" on the your schedule.
Main Goal: The main focus of these lessons is to improve students' speaking skills.
Teacher's Task: You should prioritize and expand on the speaking activities in the materials.
2. Books and extra handouts
a. Weekly Structure:
Each 90-minute session should be divided into two parts: approximately 70 minutes for the "Global Gateway" book and around 20 minutes for the handout.
Adapt Time as Needed: The 70/20-minute split is a guideline. Feel free to adjust the time based on the lesson's content and the complexity of the handout.
b. Notes for Book activities:
Focus on the vocabulary, speaking, and listening activities in the "Global Gateway" book.
***Friendly reminder:
For the Grammar section, you only need to help students recognize the structure and apply it in communication, without going into deep theory.
For the Writing section, you can adapt the activities into speaking practice, while also providing the necessary vocabulary and sentence patterns. The writing assignment should be given as homework, and in the following lesson, you can choose to correct the work of 1-2 students as an example for the class.
b. Handout Activities:
The handouts are designed to reinforce vocabulary.
Grade 7: The handout includes Word Completion (fill in the blank with a word from a description) and Word Choice (choose the correct word to complete a sentence).
Grades 8 & 9: The handout includes Word Choice (similar to that of grade 7) and Word Form (activities focused on word families and different parts of speech).
*** The handout activities will alternate: for example, this week will be Word Choice, next week will be Word Form, and the pattern will repeat.
Explain Your Answers: When reviewing the handout, don't just provide the correct answers. Always explain the reasoning behind the correct choice to help students understand the concepts.
Reinforce Vocabulary: The primary goal of the handout is to help students review vocabulary from the "Smart World" book. You are supporting the school teachers in double-checking students' memory. There's no need to feel pressured; just allocate a small amount of time to this.
3. Tests
Final test: Listening and speaking
