Art & Design

Overview

In Art we will learn the fundamentals of thinking like a creative problem solver. We will solve visual arts problems while having fun and experimenting with various materials. We will learn about various artists and designers from yesterday to today.

About me

I have been teaching in some capacity for over 25 years. I have experience teaching many subjects. Creativity is my passion and passing that on to others is my goal. If I can successfully teach a child to experiment and think, not only in art, but in everyday situations, I will have succeeded.

I will help students understand beauty is everywhere. Learning never stops. Having fun, while experimenting with materials, can lead to new discoveries. Above all else; respect for everything and everyone is the key to success. I am always available for questions at mnoll@viking.portage.k12.oh.us

This is going to be another great year.

“Every artist was first an amateur”

Ralph Waldo Emerson

 “Creativity takes courage”  Henri Matisse

No Erasers!

I have a guideline that there are no erasers allowed in the art room.

Students tend to obsess over the smallest details and get lost from the big picture. I encourage them to accept their mistakes, use them, and turn them into learning opportunities.  Sometimes our best learning comes from our biggest failure.

There is a time and a place for erasers in art.

“Accidents often produce the best solutions. Only you can recognize the difference between an accident and your original intent.

Jennifer Morla, President and Creative Director of Morla Design
